- Change the denominators so they are the same.
- Use Butterfly method, or check to see if one is a factor of the other.)
- Add fractions, regroup if necessary.
- Add Whole numbers.

- You borrow 1 whole (7/7) from the 3 and make it a 2
- You add the original fraction (1/7) to the one you borrowed (7/7) ending up with 8/7.
